Bio

My last year of high school was spent in the Midwest experiencing the lovely, changing seasons
and the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Kansas City. Not surprisingly I was compelled to come back
and make Kansas City my home.
I met my husband on a blind date and it was love at first sight. Not long after our first anniversary we had our daughter
who has been our greatest joy.
I am creative by nature. In college, I took a children’s literature course and have always wanted to
write children’s books. Here, many years later, is my first effort. It’s a bit of a true story about two young fellas,
naming chickens, and a pretty red chicken coop.
The names and identities of the chickens have been changed for their protection.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Chickens Don't Just Name Themselves

Join Adrian and Lucas on their chicken-naming journey and learn why naming chickens
is an important, hard, yet rewarding job. What seems like a simple task
quickly turns into an exciting challenge full of laughter, creativity, and sibling games.
Along the way, the brothers discover that naming chickens is more than just
picking a name—it's about connection, responsibility, and a whole lot of love.
In this fun picture book by Katherine Germaine, young readers will explore the joy of
caring for animals while learning important lessons about teamwork and compassion.
Packed with humor, silliness and tender moments, Chickens Don't Just Name Themselves
is sure to captivate both children and parents alike.
Perfect for young readers ages 4-8, this beautifully illustrated
sweet and silly adventure makes a great addition to any family’s bookshelf.

Trouble in the Deep Back
-Coming Fall 2025-

"It all started with the nail polish..."

Oh my, my. There is trouble in the Deep Back. Everything was fine. Or at least it seemed like it was.
Adrian and Fluffy are building a terrific tower in the mud pit. Lu and Bowser are digging
a road system for their cars with the help of Hilde. One morning the boys heard a cock-a-doodle-do
that didn't sound as happy as usual They made a mad dash to the chicken coop,
where they found a very unhappy Headbanger. Somebody had painted her toes pink and
everybody knew that Headbanger did not like pink!
While the chicken coop was being built Adrian and Lucas were excited about a new friendship
between the hens and fairies, but it looks like someone forgot to tell the fairies! Shenanigans ensue as the boys
and their Big Deep pals navigate the journey of nurturing friendships.
Sometimes it takes a little rumble and a lot of laughter to reestablish a happy and healthy friendship community.

Will I Find a Friend Today Mama?

Follow 8 year old Harper as she navigates a new school and looks for the perfect friend. Her Mama gently
encourages her to open her eyes wide. When she does, Harper realizes that there are so many sights
and sounds and tastes that she has never experienced before. Set in Louisiana, where I was born, this story
awakens your senses to the beauty of this southern state and its rich and diverse culture. Soon Harper realizes
that there is no fun in having a friend who does everything exactly as she does.
Enjoy this story as told through the rich cultural traditions of my Louisiana heritage.
